What is the "Zone?"
The North Brevard Economic Development Zone (sometimes referred to as "the Zone" or "NBEDZ" for marketing purposes), is an economic development agency that utilizes a tax increment financing mechanism to generate revenue which is then re-directed in ways to stimulate economic growth for the northern part of Brevard County, Florida.
Since 2011, the Zone has worked to induce more than four dozen projects, many creating hundreds of jobs for North Brevard and the greater Titusville Area.
The governing body of the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (established as the "North Brevard Development District") is a nine-person board of directors, who serve staggered terms of office. Those terms extend for a period of four years, and they may be re-appointed for consecutive terms. All board members must reside within the geographic boundaries of the Zone. Three of the directors are appointed by the City of Titusville; three directors are appointed by the current District 1 County Commissioner; the remaining three are "joint" appointments, requiring a majority vote of both the Titusville City Council and the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners.

Stan Retz is a principal and financial adviser with Retz Baker Financial Services, Inc., in Titusville and Edgewater.
